Out-Of-Cotrol TOYOTA CAMRY hits house

It is unclear from published reports and inquiries if the TOYOTA CAMRY  [in the article below] was struck by another vehicle before ACCELERATING UNCONTROLLABLY.

If the TOYOTA CAMRY was struck by another vehicle that caused its WILD ACCELERATION, this will be the 3rd such incident that has been documented and reported.

The TOYOTA SOLARA that caused the death of Lily Quintus was struck in the rear before careening uncontrollably into her Day Care Center.

...after Noriko Uno's TOYOTA was struck by another vehicle, the TOYOTA took off accelerating  uncontrollably.....

Is this another TOYOTA problem that NHTSA is ignoring?

This Toyota Camry reportedly had a mechanical malfunction, causing a minor crash in North Coventry, then causing the vehicle to travel into Pottstown out of control before crashing through the wall of this house at 259 N. Hanover St. Monday morning. KEVIN HOFFMAN —THE MERCURY

Pottstown >> A driver lost control of her car Monday morning, causing her to speed through nearly one mile of Hanover Street and ending only as she crashed into a home at Third and Hanover streets, police said.

The incident began at 11:18 a.m. when the woman’s Toyota Camry was struck by another vehicle on the 422 off-ramp at South Hanover Street. Police said the impact cause her to hit a porch and lose the ability to brake.

“We are investigating whether it was driver error or mechanical,” said Sgt. Thomas McCloy of Pottstown Police.

The woman travelled at a high rate of speed up Hanover through busy intersections at Industrial Highway, High Street, King Street and Beech Street. Finally, she went through the parking lot at Third, hitting a grass embankment, launching into the air and hitting the porch and brick outer wall of a home on the 200 block of North Hanover, police said.

The 59-year-old driver took to the wrong side of the street to avoid traffic, driving northbound in the southbound lanes, police said.

When police arrived on the scene, the woman was out of the car and “was very upset,” McCloy said. Goodwill ambulance treated the woman for minor injuries and she was taken to Reading Hospital for evaluation, police said.

The accident caused extensive damage to the house, according to police.

Earlier version of the story:
POTTSTOWN >> A car that careened out of control for several blocks on Hanover Street crashed into a house at the corner of Third and Hanover streets Monday morning. No one was reported injured in the house.

The visibly shaken driver was being tended to by paramedics at the scene.

Witnesses said it appeared the driver had a mechanical problem with her car while driving on Hanover Street in North Coventry, causing her car to race forward across the Hanover Street bridge and through downtown Pottstown. The vehicle crashed into the house across from St. Aloysius Church, witnesses said.

KinderCare Crash Trial Update

The report below indicates that Albert Campbell, the driver of the RUNAWAY TOYOTA SOLARA that rammed the KinderCare building was accelerating the entire time.

That report fails to address why FHP Officers were measuring skid marks.

This is the second high profile case in which a TOYOTA was impacted and the driver was unable to stop the vehicle.

Deadly KinderCare crash trial continues Friday

Last Updated: December 05, 2014, 9:04 AM

ORLANDO --
Late Friday afternoon the state rested its case against the man accused of causing a deadly day care crash. That crash killed a four-year-old girl.

Prosecutors tried to paint a picture for the jury Friday for why Robert Corchado, 29, may not have wanted to stop after allegedly rear-ending another car, which was then propelled through a Winter Park KinderCare day care facility, killing Lily Quintus and injuring 11 others.

One by one crime scene experts said the evidence collected back in April showed Corchado knew he had been in an accident and should have known there were injuries.

To place Corchado as the driver of the Dodge SUV that crashed into a Toyota Solara that careened into the day care, experts first set out to prove the two vehicles made contact at some point.

Laura Marano, a senior crime lab analyst for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement told jurors, "I was asked to compare any paint found to the paint on the front bumper of the Dodge Durango."
She went on to testify the paint did match. Then other experts testified that DNA collected from the steering wheel of the SUV matched Corchado.

Cell phone records show Corchado's cell phone was making calls from the area near the time of the accident. And then there was the vehicle itself, found outside of one of Corchado's friends' homes.

Investigators testified they found a backpack full of drugs and items with Corchado's fingerprints on it.

"The first bag is an envelope containing a white substance removed from Bag D," said Vanessa Nylander, of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. "The second bag is 34 baggies containing white substance."

The defense contends that it was more than an hour and a half after the accident that the Durango was located and there was no proof the drugs were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Corchado's attorney told the court that Corchado will decide over the weekend if he will testify for his own defense.

Trial underway for man accused in fatal Winter Park day care crash

Robert Corchado charged with causing crash, trafficking in heroin

ORLANDO, Fla. -
The trial for the man accused of causing a deadly day care crash in Orange County began on Thursday with emotional testimony detailing the moments after the crash.

Robert Corchado is accused of hitting a Toyota Solara, causing it to crash into a KinderCare Child Day Care Center, and then leaving the scene in April.

The crash killed 4-year-old Lily Quintus and injured more than a dozen others.

Corchado, 29, was charged with leaving the scene of the crash, trafficking in heroin and other felonies. If convicted, he faces at least 30 years in prison.

Prosecutors began their case on Thursday saying that Corchado knew that he caused the crash and that he tried to cover it up.

Day care workers testified about the scene of the crash and jurors saw images from inside of the building.

VPK teacher Donna Brashears told jurors she was handing out snacks moments before the crash and said she gave 4-year-old Lily Quintus CPR.

Defense attorneys argue that Corchado had no idea of the destruction he left behind.

WINTER PARK, Fla. —
Channel 9 learned on Friday that a man accused in a hit-and-run crash that caused another vehicle to slam into a Winter Park day care, killing a 4-year-old girl inside, has won a legal battle in the case.

Robert Corchado is behind bars without bond, facing several felony charges related to the case.

Chanel 9's Jeff Deal found some evidence against him, however, won't be allowed at trial.

State troopers said Corchado caused the April crash that sent another car into the KinderCare on Goldenrod Road.

Lily Quintas, who was inside at that time of the crash, died from her injuries.

This week, Corchado's defense team got a victory with a court ruling that keeps evidence from a prior crash out of the case.

In December, Corchado was arrested in a similar crash near a day care in Seminole County.

Investigators found a large amount of drugs and cash in the car.
Prosecutors hoped to present evidence from that crash in the KinderCare hit-and-run trial.

"The state has to show Corchado knew there was either death or injury involved in the accident," said WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer

The state argued the prior crash could help show that.

Even though the crashes may sound similar, Sheaffer said the court decided the other case really wouldn't help show either way whether Corchado knew there were injuries or death when he allegedly left the scene.

This little charmer, Lily Quintus was killed when a RUNAWAY TOYOTA SOLARA struck her day care.

After Mr. Corchado struck the TOYOTA SOLARA, evidence indicates that the TOYOTA SOLARA WILDLY ACCELERATED, leaving skid marks that photos indicate were measured.
