A FEW COMPLAINTS:

12/19/2016 - JERICHO, NY
THIS VEHICLE HAS A FAULTY BRAKE, IT MAKES A SOUND EVERY TIME YOU APPLY BRAKE. MOREOVER THE BRAKES FEELS VERY SOFT, NEED TO PUSH VERY HARD ON BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR. BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND ON ORIGINAL TOYOTA BRAKES THAT CAME WITH THE NEW CAR. IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM.

12/9/2016 - ESCONDIDO, CA
MAKES LOT OF NOISE FRONT BRAKES WHEN DRIVING AND APPLYING BRAKES

11/14/2016 - YONKERS, NY
BRAKES FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED IN THE CITY OF YONKERS, NEW YORK. CAR HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE AND HAS HAD ROUTINE MAINTENANCE THRU TOYOTA DEALERSHIP

POSSIBLE MALFUNCTION WITH THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS). CAR FAILS TO BRAKE PROPERLY AND SLIDES WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED THE BRAKE. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45MPH AND WHEN SHE TRIED TO STOP, SLID INTO THE BACK OF AN 18-WHEELER.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA RAV4. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT, THE BRAKES FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE, WHICH THEN CRASHED INTO A THIRD VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLES HAD MINOR DAMAGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA RAV4. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED ABRUPTLY TO AVOID CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. AFTER THE INCIDENT, EVERY TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKES SEIZED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH REAR PADS, ROTORS, AND HARDWARE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.....

OUR TOYOTA 2013 RAV4 HAD A SUDDEN ACCELERATION. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE GAS PEDDLE SUDDENLY DROPPED TO THE FLOOR, AND THE RPM'S WENT FROM 3-8 INSTANTLY. UPON BRAKING, THE ACCELERATOR WENT BACK TO NORMAL, BUT AS SOON AS THE BRAKE WAS RELEASED, THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY HAPPENED AGAIN. AT THIS POINT, THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AGAIN, AND THE CAR WAS PULLED OVER. THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF, THEN RESTARTED. AT THIS POINT THE CAR DROVE NORMAL FROM THEN ON.

WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE, SATURDAY 12/12/15, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, SUDDENLY THE ENGINE SPEEDED UP RADICALLY AND I SPED BACKWARD TO THE END OF MY DRIVE. I BRAKED AND SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND SWITCHED OFF THE ENGINE. IT STOPPED AND UPON RESTARTING, WAS OK. THIS COULD BE DEADLY IF IT HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC.

HI, WE (MYSELF, MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER) HAD AN ACCIDENT DATED 08/02/2015 DUE TO BRAKES IN OUR TOYOTA 2013 RAV 4 DIDN'T FUNCTION. WE WERE TRAVELING AT POSTED SPEED OF 65/HR AND THERE WERE 3 CARS AHEAD OF US THAT BRAKED SUDDENLY. THERE WAS ENOUGH TIME FOR ALL CARS TO STOP INCLUDING OUR CAR BUT INSPITE OF FULL BRAKING IT FAILED TO AND HAPPENED TO CRASH INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF US. OUR CAR JUST COULD NOT COME TO COMPLETE STOP. WE STRONGLY FEEL ITS NOT SAFE FOR OUR FAMILY TO DRIVE IN THAT CAR ANY MORE. WE HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH TOYOTA AS WELL, BUT ITS BEEN 3 DAYS HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM YET. ALL THEY DID WAS EMAIL US SAYING THEY WERE UNABLE TO REACH US WHEN WE DID NOT RECEIVED ANY CALLS AT OUR END. WE REQUEST YOU TO PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AND IT MIGHT BE A SERIOUS ISSUE. THANKING YOU, SHAH FAMILY.

THE THROTTLE STUCK ON THE CAR. I COULD NOT STOP THE CAR AND IT WENT OVER A 10 FOOT FALL AND CRASHED TO THE GROUND. IT WAS A VERY SCARY RIDE. I TRIED EVERY WAY TO STOP THE CAR BUT COULD NOT . I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME OF THE UNINTENDED EVENT. I AM STILL VERY SORE THREE WEEKS LATER AND HAVE SOME SPINAL SPRAIN AND WRIST SPRAIN, CERVICAL SPRAIN AND BOTH KNEES BRUISED BOTH KNEES. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A COLLISION CENTER FOR REPAIRS AFTER I CONSULTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY

THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, IT REMAINED STUCK. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE'S SPEED INCREASED AND CRASHED INTO A RETAINING WALL. THE CONTACT DID NOT DISCLOSE IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OR IF THERE WERE ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

2013 TOYOTA RAV 4. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKE PEDAL MALFUNCTION. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN SHE TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT STOP UNTIL SHE HIT A CEMENT POST IN FRONT OF THE PARKING AREA.

Toyota recalls 295,000 vehicles globally for braking problem

Toyota recalls 295,000 vehicles globally for braking problem

DETROIT (Reuters) -- Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling about 295,000 Lexus and Toyota brand vehicles globally, mostly in the United States, because various safety systems including stability control and anti-lock brakes could become inoperative.
It is recalling vehicles from model years 2012 and 2013 because an electrical component in the brake actuator, which adjusts fluid pressure in each wheel cylinder, may experience increased resistance, according to documents filed this week with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
That could lead to reduced vehicle control and an increased risk of a crash as various safety systems, including traction control, become inoperative.
There have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue, said a Toyota spokesman.
Of the total recalled, 261,114 were sold in the United States. The rest were exported to other markets, a spokeswoman for the company said.
The affected vehicles globally include about 57,000 of the Lexus RX350 crossover vehicles and about 109,000 of the Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks, both from model years 2012 and 2013, she said.
In addition, about 129,000 of the Toyota RAV4 SUVs from model year 2012 are affected, she said.
In the United states, those numbers were 54,010 RX350 crossovers, 100,052 Tacoma trucks and 107,052 RAV4 SUVs, according to the NHTSA documents.
Toyota and Lexus dealers will update the software for the skid control electronic unit free of charge, according to the NHTSA documents.
Earlier this week, Toyota recalled all 1.9 million of the third-generation Prius cars sold worldwide due to a programming glitch in their hybrid system.

Prius Ends Up Wedged In Doorway

Man critically injured after vehicle crashes about 20 feet into building

POSTED 8:17 PM, JANUARY 16, 2017, BY

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Metro police are investigating after a Toyota Prius crashed into a building on the near northwest side Monday night.
Officers were called to the scene of the crash near the intersection of 21st Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Street around 7:20 p.m.
Officials say a man in his late teens was driving north on MLK when he went through a light too fast and crashed into a Bodycote Thermal Processing building. Officers say the vehicle went about 20 feet in and ended up on its side in the building’s front office space and conference room.
Authorities say the driver was conscious enough to try and get himself out out of the vehicle. He was extricated and transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.
FOX59 is told nine people were inside the building during the crash. They all got out safely.
IFD’s Rita Reith says the building was ruled structurally sound and all utilities were secured.
It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Officials say there were no obvious signs at the scene.
Authorities believe the intersection will be closed until around 10:30 p.m. Monday due to the crash.

Prius Ends Up Wedged In Doorway

What you’re looking at up there used to be a Toyota Prius, and, yes, it’s crammed into a doorway of a building. The bizarre location for a Prius happened as the result of a crash in Indianapolis, where a teenaged driver ran a red light and crashed into a building. The driver is in critical condition, but responsive. The Prius, less so.
