AN ELDERLY driver’s luxury SUV ploughed into the side of a Toorak mansion this afternoon, giving a housekeeper the shock of her life.
The car, driven by an 80-year-old Kooyong man, lost control and ploughed into the side of the mansion in St Georges Rd.
Highway patrol Senior Constable David Refled said the driver came down from Grange Rd and had a near-collision with another car going through the roundabout.

“The driver accelerated at a high speed to avoid the collision, he then hit the back of another car and shot off into the side of the house,” Sen-Constable Refled said.

There was a housekeeper inside at the time.
Metropolitan Fire Brigade station officer Chris Schey said she was uninjured.
The elderly driver was taken to The Alfred hospital with no serious injuries but was said to be shaken up over the incident.
Sen-Constable Refled said he had spoken to the owner of the house.
“She’s really shocked and unfortunately she can’t get here yet because of the train strike - she’s just watching it all unfold on the news I think,” he said.
